HWK posters of different genres

Describe the following genres

What makes the videos/artists link to their genre?

POP

-          Funky Font

-          Bright colours

-          Good looking woman

-          Fashionable clothing

-          Large picture filling the screen (focus)

-          Small text

The reason that artists are link to their genre is because the way they displays themselves for example Katy Perry comes out as a happy outgoing woman that has happy music videos revealing a bit of flesh because that is what the latest generation want. So the music of pop is happy and contains bright colours with a funky beat.

Rock

-          Dark lighting

-          Sharp font

-          Dark clothing

-          Crazy hair

-          Hand gestures

-          Stereotypically men

The reason that Metallica link to their genre is because they’re a heavy rock band which are stereotypically loud and dark so they’re seen as a negative influence as they play ‘metal’ style so they are known for loud music that is seen as head banging music which includes guitars and drums.

R&B

-          Lots of 'Bling'

-          Lots of money

-          usually afro Caribbean artists

-          includes club beats

-          dancing

-          fast paced

The reason that this style links to its genre is because they are mainly American artists that have come from mixed backgrounds so from urban cities others better off. This genre relates to the younger generation because it is more club music that the younger generation listen to.

Alternate

- Old fashioned

-farmerish clothes

- Country music

-acoustic guitar

- Black and white poster

Alternate links to its genre because the style of music is very laid back country music that people can easily listen to. They fit in because they wear unusual farmerish clothing which contains rural items. The clothing can vary  from classic country to smart casual.

Hip/Hop

-          Similar to R&B

-          Afro Caribbean artist

-          Bling

-          Hats

-          Gangsters

Hip/Hop links to its genre by the American artists talking about their backgrounds where most of them grew up poor talking about life and how it was hard growing up. They now talk about their life how they started from the bottom and now their rich.
