Cutting To The Beat

For example Adele every 4/5 beats then change in scene ////-////

Key:
- A for Adele

- B for Broken items

- D for Drummer

            - G for Glass
With Adele, Rolling In The Deep the use of strums on the strings determines when the shot changes.

/ = every time the shot changes

/There's a fire starting in my heart/
Reaching a fever pitch, it's bringing me out the dark/
/Finally I can see you crystal /clear
[Clean version:] Go/ 'head and sell me out and/ I'll lay your ship bare
[Explicit version:] Go 'head and sell me out and I'll lay your shit bare
See how I leave with every/ piece of you/
Don't underestimate the things that I will do/

There's a fire starting in my heart/
Reaching a fever pitch
And it's bringing me out the dark/

The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all/
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling
We could have had it all/
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it, to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

'Cutting to the beat'. is where the beat follows the conventions of the videos is timed to perfection when the shot changes in time. for example with another note known as syncing with the track so the shots are placed in order then timed so the editors make sure the shot changes on the beat.

An example of this technique is the BMW advert. It  follows conventions of a typical music video and the cuts are placed where the beat changes. The advert is an example of amplification, where the beat of the song sells not only the product but emotion, suggesting buying the car brings happiness.
