Digipaks Analysis

Digipaks Analysis

The 'Digipack' that I am going to analyses is the CD album by Jay Z and Linkin Park where they did a collaboration and a  number of songs where they performed live together on stage.

On this picture you can see the different sections of the music album so the front of the album shows both artist's names very clearly with a background that stands out because it is different which also links to the genre of the music because it looks like graffiti art which is linked to urban rap fused with rock. The next section is the back cover which displays the tracks on the back that are on the CD it also talks a little bit about both artists as well as any other featured information about the track with a similar background to the cover. The next section is the inside flap of the album which sometimes contains a poster, song lyrics and members of the band.

CD Pocket

The last part of the CD is the inner part where the CD is kept this is a good example because it shows that because they have a sleeve where the CD is kept they could design it, so it shows the art work of people's hand trying to get the disc which is a good feature to the packaging. The disc itself is also designed as a splattered effect.

The next digipak that I am going to analyses is from a different genre which is pop and the artist that I have chosen is katy Perry with the album teenage dream the reason that I have chose this is because the album follows the conventions of a pop cover because the album is pink and you can tell that she is the focus point because she is plastered all over the album.

The final digipak that I have chosen is in the rock/metal genre which is the band Nine Inch Nails which is a rock band and the album cover that I have found is 'White Teeth' which looks like a simple cover but as you look at it you can tell that it links to the genre because it is a dark cover with a negative feel to it.

Overall I think that artists need to make sure they design their album covers appropriately to their genre because it needs to make sense to the audience. for example heavy rock and metal bands won't look as affective if  they have a pink album cover because you link them  stereotypically to dark colours and anger so they have to stick to their image.
