Katy Perry (Part Of Me)
This music video by Katy Perry, shows a strong storyline, because she is in a bad relationship that has always made her not do what she wanted to do in life and held her back is finally over since she sees her boyfriend talking to another woman, after finding out she becomes stronger and then committing her life to the marines.
From these images you can see that Katy has driven to the boyfriends/husbands work place as she pulls up she sees him flirting with another employee which angers her so she goes in and goes crazy at him because she knew that it was happening and he lied to her.
The next images show her really depressed and angry as she goes into a store and see the advertisement showing to sign up for the marines all women can try out. So she runs into the dark lighted toilets and cuts her hair short to prepare for the marines as she challenges herself to a new start. The camera work in the shot of the news board is affective because it uses an over the shoulder shot to show that Katy Perry is reading the poster about the marines.
This next screenshot that I have used is two pictures in one because it shows Katy holding the guns when she is with her boyfriend/husband at the festival on the games to then training in combat. The picture of her earlier with the fake gun illustrates what might happen further in the music video so it signifies violence, pain, heartbreak that happens as she trains in combat. So it goes from a love in a relationship to war. The camera work used in this scene is important because you can see in both pictures that the gun is positioned in the centre of the shot as the focus point.
The final shot that I have used is a close up of Katy showing very little emotion on her face like her whole world has been turned upside because of the break up. Now that she has joined the marines she has more to focus on now and it will help her move on. A good example I see from this is the Mise en Scene is used through the make up/Camouflage paint on her face to give her a new identity or to hide away from the person she once was.
